Five generations of Silvestris' have been involved in the statuary industry. Arcangelo Silvestri, his two brothers and a brother-in-law settled in San Francisco in 1900, manufacturing ornamental molding and plaster figurines. Their successful business was derailed by the Great Depression, and returned to their native Italy. Arcangelo's son and grandson returned to San Francisco in 1956 to open A. Silvestri Co., and have continued their successful family business.
